The GDF bundle

Global Delivery & Firewall. The global and firewall bundle. Everything in EDS, the full F5 Local Traffic Manager (LTM) and Application Security (ASM / Advanced WAF) stack, plus F5 Global Traffic Manager (GTM, now BIG-IP DNS) for multi-data-centre delivery and F5 Advanced Firewall Manager (AFM) for network-layer firewalling and DDoS protection. This is the bundle for estates that span more than one site and need protection at the network layer as well as the application layer. Examples are illustrative, not a fixed menu.

What you can send under GDF

Global Delivery & Firewall

Examples grouped by type. These are real examples of the kind of work you can send: illustrative, not a fixed menu. If it is GDF-shaped work, it fits in your queue.

In practice, if the work lives in the System, Network or Local Traffic tab, the Security tab under Application Security (ASM, WAF and Advanced WAF, aWAF), the DNS tab (GTM global load balancing) or the Security tab under Network Firewall (AFM), it belongs in your GDF queue. The examples below just show the shape of that work.

GDF scope in the BIG-IP configuration utility
GDF adds the DNS tab (GTM) and the Security tab, Network Firewall (AFM), on top of the full EDS delivery and security stack.
Everything in EDS

The full EDS stack

Everything in the EDS bundle: the SDR delivery core (Local Traffic Manager, platforms, AVR) plus Application Security (ASM / Advanced WAF).

Global Traffic Manager (GTM / DNS)

Wide IP and topology design

Design GTM wide IPs and topology records so applications are load balanced globally across sites, by geography, performance or availability.

Data-centre failover

Set up DNS-based failover between data centres and prove it fails over cleanly with a written test, not just a config.

DNSSEC and DNS services

Deliver and secure the DNS layer itself: DNS Express, zone management and DNSSEC signing where the estate needs it.

Advanced Firewall Manager (AFM)

Network firewall policy design

Design and build AFM network firewall rules and policies for a new application tier or a whole self-IP, at the network layer.

Network DDoS protection

Configure AFM network-layer DDoS vectors and protection profiles and review them against real traffic so legitimate users are never caught.

Firewall rule review and clean-up

Audit an existing AFM rule base, find the redundant, shadowed and overly broad rules and tighten it without breaking production.

Who it's for

 • Estates spanning more than one data centre or region that need global load balancing
 • Teams that need DNS-based global traffic management and clean site-to-site failover
 • Anyone adding a network-layer firewall and network DDoS protection to their F5 estate

Every request includes

 • Written up and documented every time, so your estate records improve with every request, not just the change itself
 • Tested before it goes live, with a clear rollback plan ready if anything needs backing out safely
 • The same 401-certified F5 engineer on every request, who already knows your estate and how it is built

Not included

 • Access and SSL orchestration (APM, SSLO), that is UDS
 • 24/7 monitoring, Approxee is a contractor, not a managed service
GDF pricing

One rate. Commit longer, pay less.

The shorter the commitment, the more flexible the price. The half-yearly rate is the standard, matching how F5 work is normally contracted.

MonthlyQuarterlyHalf-yearlystandard rateYearly
GDFGlobal Delivery & Firewall£16,500£15,675£14,850£14,025

Guide price. Each monthly figure is the maximum: it assumes every billable day in a normal month is worked, about 22, at the equivalent day rate. Approxee bills per available day, so any week not worked is not charged; see the availability calendar. Prices in GBP, exclude VAT. Commit longer, pay less: 5% off quarterly, 10% off half-yearly, 15% off yearly.
